The FIBA Women’s World Cup is the premier event on the FIBA Women’s Basketball calendar and as such, it needed a fan engagement solution befitting the occasion. With a showcase of some of the finest basketball talent on the planet, the fans need to be fully engaged not just in the stands, but throughout the entire tournament.

With 38 games spanning 11 days, the tournament will be held across 2 venues in Sydney with a combined capacity of over 20,000 spectators. In a basketball loving city with a population of over 5 million people and an Australian Women’s team tipped to make the medal rounds, the potential for high energy fan engagement will be present.   

 

Ultimate Fan App (UFA) were tasked with developing a digital fan engagement solution that complimented FIBA’s already existing Women’s World Cup App.

Working closely with the Local Organising Committee and FIBA, our aim is to make sure that fans had a way to get the most out of their World Cup experience. Whilst the existing Women’s World Cup App focused more on team rosters and stats, the Fan Experience App focuses squarely on enhancing the fans fun, excitement, and overall enjoyment of the tournament.

We tapped into our many years of experience catering to basketball fans during tournaments and events to develop an app that can be used in conjunction with the FIBA App. Our MCs during the event will encourage fans to use their phones to vote and have their say on music tracks. This level of interactivity promotes fan engagement and gets them involved in designing parts of the entertainment.

The result is a fan engagement tool that entertains, informs, engages and promotes. The developed modules listed above have been created in consultation with the LOC and FIBA. The creation of fan memories and experiences will be made more exciting with the inclusion of the Women’s World Cup Fan Experience App powered by UFA: fans can capture the moment on their socials, share their experience with their friends and send the word that the tournament is providing an outstanding fan experience!
